The other book ...The Serbian Dane by Lief Davidsen. The other book of his in print and translated is The Woman from Bratislava but although some of it is set in Denmark a lot of it is not. The Exception by Christian Jungerson is very good. Of course, there is always Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow, though as a geographer you probably don't appreciate the ending.
