Turn the oven off

Mrs Lomax brushed the flour from her hands and answered the phone.  ‘Hello, Jackie?’

‘Mom, I’ve … look, you need to sit down.’

‘I’m in the middle of baking, can you call me back in ten minutes?’

‘Mom, sit down. This is important.’

‘Okay, okay, I’m sitting.’

‘Tom has just been arrested for murder. They …’

‘Murder!’

‘They’re saying he stabbed a man outside a pub.’

‘Tom?’

‘Don’t open the door to anyone except the police. They’ll be reporters.’

‘Murder?’

‘I’m staying at the station. Jane is on her way.’

‘I …’

‘Turn the oven off and take deep breaths.’

A drabble is a story of exactly 100 words.

Oh, that conversation says an awful lot, Rob. I'd like to know more about the stabbing and what led to it. Well done
