‘Mad or bad?’
‘He’s a bloody headcase!’ Flanagan snapped, nursing a sore ear.
‘But a headcase that’s compos mentis?’
‘Whether he is or he isn’t he’s guilty as hell.’
Of that there was little dispute. Logan had admitted to killing the mother and daughter. Said he needed to drive the devil from them.
‘But did he know what he was doing? The consequences of his actions?’
‘I don’t care as long as the sick fuck’s locked up.’
‘It’s what his defense will argue. They’ll plead insanity.’
‘He knew.’
‘Or the voices in his head did.’
‘Mad, bad – he knew.’
A drabble is a story of exactly 100 words.

I like the way you address this issue, Rob. And the fact that, for the victim, it may not matter very much whether a criminal is, as you say, bad or mad.
