Liverpool crime fiction?

I'm heading to Liverpool and the Wirral at the end of the month for a few days.  I'm looking for some crime fiction set in either location.  Does anyone have any recommendations?  They'd be much appreciated.

Rob - Martin Edwards' Harry Devlin novels are set in Liverpool and I can highly recommend them.

I highly recommend you pick up a copy of Ramsey Campbell's short short collection "Alone with the Horrors," which includes many tales set in Liverpool (Campbell's hometown). A few are specific to Tuebrook and Wirral Way, and others are somewhat ambiguous, but he has a tendency to include specific streets and landmarks. This is one of my favorite collections.

I think Ring Starr's solo albums were criminal ...

Thanks Margot, Dyer. I'll look into both those recommendations, though I'm not a horror fan so not sure if the Campbell collection will be my kind of thing. And I'll stay away from the Ringo Starr albums, Paul!

I got these other recommendations from Friendfeed Crime & Mystery:

Martin Edwards (Harry Devlin series)
Kevin Sampson
Niall Griffiths
Helen Walsh (Brass)
Conrad William (Blonde on a Stick) Ed Chatterton (A Dark Place to Die)
Margaret Murphy (The Dispossessed)
